AdaptiveWork Releases: Update 2024.R08

We’re excited to share with you the latest updates to features in resource management, capacity tracking, administration, and other limited-availability features. In this article, we’ll explore each of these improvements and how they can benefit your organization.

General Availability Features

Resource Management

Preserving Resource Capacity When Filtering Reports

AdaptiveWork Releases: Update 2024.R08

Note: The release of this feature will be delayed pending two minor changes. We will provide a further update when the feature is available to all customers. To complete these changes, we will disable the feature for any customers who are currently testing it.

We are improving how requests are handled when capacity data for specific time periods is included in a report and linked to work time or employee data.

AdaptiveWork Releases: Update 2024.R08

There are three main changes:

  1. You can choose whether the filters set in the Work Time or Employee fields restrict the resources displayed in a report. If they do not, only the filters set using User/Capacity fields will determine the resources displayed.
  2. Resource Capacity is now displayed for time periods during which resources are not assigned to work items.
  3. There are now two sections for Advanced Logic filters, divided between Work Time/Employee data fields and User/Capacity fields. Filters must be placed in the correct section to pass syntax validation and cannot be mixed. This allows customers to choose to restrict the resources displayed using only User/Capacity fields.

The new feature will only take effect after a report is created or edited. Existing reports will continue to function as before until they are edited.

Capacity Records

Note: The release of this feature will be delayed pending two minor changes. We will provide an additional update when the feature is available to all customers.

Capacity calculations are critical for Resource Managers to understand work allocation. When capacity calculations are not accurate based on user availability, decisions regarding resource allocation can be affected. AdaptiveWork now supports ready-to-use scenarios.

Key Improvements to Capacity Records:

  • When a User is temporarily suspended, deleted, and later reactivated, Calendar Exceptions can be added to AdaptiveWork. However, this is a manual process that can become quite complex if you try to automate it through configuration. The calendar exceptions feature does not allow Users to configure all possible scenarios.
  • The AdaptiveWork Now supports out-of-the-box capacity change management across all scenarios in the user lifecycle:
    • The User's invitation date is different from the actual work date.
    • Capacity is deducted when a user is deleted or suspended.
    • The user's reactivation/reinstatement date is different from the actual work date.
    • Error handling or updates.
    • Multiple capacity periods during a single active state.

Administration

View Discussion/User Group Details [New]

We are improving the display customization options for items related to Discussions and User Groups.

What's New:

  • You can now set Related Items for Discussions and User Groups independently, allowing you to customize detailed views based on specific use cases.

Controlled Availability Features

The following features will be released soon. Customers with Sandbox environments who would like to enable these new features should contact their Customer Success Manager.

Note:

This feature is in Beta/Limited Availability. To request early access, please contact your Customer Success Manager. Planview, at its discretion, reserves the right to accept or reject a customer’s request to enable a feature that is in Beta/Limited Availability (i.e., “Beta software”). If a customer’s request is approved, an amendment to the Planview agreement will be required prior to enabling the feature in the customer’s environment to address legal terms related to the use of the Beta software.

Functional Area

Data Science [New]

Sentiment Analysis (available upon request and registration with Inner Circle)

We’re excited to introduce Sentiment Analysis to help you:

  • Quantify previously unclassifiable unstructured textual data.
  • Provide actionable insights and early warning signs of risk in project delivery.
  • Evaluate text entries in seconds to get an “opinion” or “perspective” on the work being done.
  • Use natural language processing, text analysis, computational linguistics, and biometrics to identify, extract, and quantify information that was previously subjective.

Resource Planning

Idle Time in Allocation Editions (to be enabled upon request)

The idle time for updates in Resource Planning can now be adjusted, allowing more time to manually select and update staffing requests and/or project/task assignments by resource in time phases before the data is sent to the database, thereby providing an improved user experience.

Important Announcements

Removal of Resource Loads

As part of our ongoing effort to modernize our Resource Management capabilities, we are planning to phase out the familiar Resource Load view. The Resource Planning view will not be affected by this change.

More information will be provided in advance of the change. We currently expect this change to take place by the end of 2024.

We hope these updates and new features will help improve your experience and efficiency when using our resource management and administration tools. Stay tuned for more updates, and feel free to contact your Customer Success Manager if you have any questions or need additional assistance.
